Funeral services for Lizzie Mae McClarty-Wilson, age 69, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 12:00 PM from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Corky Addison officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, March 27, 2015. Mrs. McClarty-Wilson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Mrs. McClarty-Wilson passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include her husband, John Wilson of Wedowee; two daughters, Kelana Scott of Waycross, GA, and Gina Camp of Wedowee; one son, James Wilson of Carrollton, GA; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred McClarty of Murphy, NC. A Marietta, Georgia native, Mrs. McClarty-Wilson was born on May 5, 1945, the daughter of Bill and Ozell Jordan McClarty. She lived in Douglasville, Georgia, for 36 years before moving to Wedowee in 2006. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. McClarty-Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters. The family will accept flowers or, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Benefield Funeral Home for Mrs. McClarty-Wilson’s funeral expenses.
