Obituary of John Calvin Rampy

Funeral services for J.C Rampy, age 92, of Woodland will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 1:00 PM from Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Norred and Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2015. Mr. Rampy will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service beginning on Tuesday. Mr. Rampy passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Sue Nell Rampy of Woodland; one daughter, Angela Rampy Smith (husband, Sammy) of Temple, GA; three sons, Michael Rampy (wife, Pat) and Jimmy Rampy of Woodland and David Rampy of Piedmont; six grandchildren, Jammie, Chris & Wes Rampy, C.J. and Alicia Smith, and Chase Rampy; six great-grandchildren, Erin Rampy, Rylen Jo Rampy, Brayden & Bailee Rampy, and Charlee & Millee Rampy; and two brothers, Bob Rampy and Hobart Rampy of Woodland. Pallbearers will be Jammie Rampy, Chris Rampy, Wes Rampy, C.J. Smith, Chase Rampy, and Nathan Parker. A Woodland native, Mr. Rampy was born on April 13, 1923, the son of Jim B. and Eva McCarley Rampy. He was a member of Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. Rampy was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Isabelle Harrington, Lila Frank Goode, and Jeanette Holloway; and three brothers, Stanley, Bovard, and James Albert Rampy. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church Building Fund.
