Funeral services for Clarence Brown, age 77, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Temon Holloway and Rev. Charlie Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Mr. Brown passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee Brown of Wedowee; two daughters, Rhonda Ashworth (husband, Alton) of Roanoke and Monica Ballenger of Wedowee; three grandchildren, Oakley Brown, Roxanne Brown, and Jessica Watts (husband, Jimmy); one sister, Ruth Baldwin of Roanoke; and three brothers, Larry Brown of Roanoke, Billy Ray Brown of Centre, and Michael Brown of Franklin, Ga. Pallbearers will be Jerry Vaughn, Phillip Adamson, Alton Ashworth, Mike Rice, Danny Baldwin, and Phillip Baldwin. A Randolph County native, Mr. Brown was born on March 3, 1938, the son of Jessi Herman and Mattie Daniel Brown. He was Baptist by faith and was a line worker for Wellborn Cabinets. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
