Obituary of Paul Nedwin Brown

Funeral services for Paul Nedwin Brown, age 70, of Woodland will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Mt. Carmel Church of Christ with Ricky Murphy, Allan Daniel, and Jason Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, May 01, 2016. Mr. Brown will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday. Mr. Brown passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at his residence. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Judy Brown of Woodland; three children, Ray Brown (wife, Lucy) of Carrollton, GA, Paula Murphy (husband, Ricky) of Woodland, and Mandy Meadows (husband, Jason) of Woodland; seven grandchildren, Riley Murphy, Reed Murphy, Nedwin Meadows, Lyndee Meadows, Ansley Arrington, and Ashley and Cody Skinner; two sisters, Mona Herren (husband, Steve) of Woodland and Peggy Eidson (husband Doyle) of Woodland; one brother, Carey Brown (wife, Betty) of South Carolina; and a special caregiver, Tressie Ware. Pallbearers will be Steve Herren, Tommy Gill, Riley Murphy, Reed Murphy, Nedwin Meadows, Charlie Brown, Richard Brown, Austin Jeffcoat, and Harry Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Pearson, Beverly Aldridge, Mallory Johnson, Barbara Almond, Brenda Wilson, Clay Daniel, and Donna Fisher. A Randolph County Alabama native, Mr. Brown was born on June 2, 1945, the son of Charlie and Opal Kirby Brown. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ and a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Brown was owner of and retired from Hollingsworth Construction and also Blossman Gas where he worked 30 years. He was a devoted husband and a great daddy. He loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Brown was a very good person and a hard worker. He will be missed but never forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Kenneth Brown, Jack Brown, Buck Brown, Brooks Brown, and Dan Brown; one sister, Beatrice Daniel; and one niece and nephew. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to LifeChoice Hospice.
