Obituary of Gene Grant

Funeral services for Gene Grant, age 76, of Wedowee will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Gerald Romine and Richard O’Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Mr. Grant passed away Monday, May 02, 2016, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Yates Grant of Wedowee; one daughter, Melody Grant Green of Gadsden; one son, David Grant of Ashland; three grandchildren, Logan Roberts, Haley Grant, and Kendall Grant; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be S.A. Kidd, Terry Graham, Lynn Bain, Bruce Davis, Stanley Cofield, and Charles May. A Wedowee native, Mr. Grant was born on March 18, 1940, the son of Horace and Murla Sheppard Grant. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a United States Marine Corp Veteran, and worked in lakeshore surveillance for Alabama Power. Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his parents.
