Funeral services for Charlie William “Bill” Houston, age 77, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016, at 2:00 PM from the Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Burks Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2016. Mr. Houston passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Survivors include his wife, Mayola Houston of Wedowee; five daughters, Frances Joiner of Roanoke, Caramel Joiner of Roanoke, Teresa Williams of Bremen, Ga, Susan Houston of Bowdon, Ga, and special daughter, Tasha Morgan of Bowdon, Ga; three sons, Leo Wilson, Willie B. Houston, and Charlie Will Houston, III, all of Wedowee; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Joyce Houston of Atlanta, Ga, Joann Strickland of Woodland, and Lovie Jean Morgan of Woodland; and two brothers, Joe Lewis Houston and Fred Junior Houston, both of Atlanta, GA. Pallbearers will be Mr. Houston’s family. A Wedowee native, Mr. Houston was born on September 2, 1938, the son of Charlie and Goldie Wright Houston. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and worked in the logging industry where he was self-employed. Mr. Houston was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, two brothers, and two sisters.
