Obituary of Rita Faye Drake

Funeral services for Rita Faye Drake, age 74, of Franklin, Georgia, will be held Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 2:00 pm (Central time) from Ridgeway Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Janney officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 to 8:00 pm (Central time) on Saturday, August 13th. Mrs. Drake will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 1:00 pm (Central time) on Sunday. Mrs. Drake died at her home on Friday, August 12, 2016. Survivors include two daughters, Letitia Autrey (Jimmy) of Woodland, Kelly Meadows (Wayne) of Woodland; three sons, Cody Buchanan (Pamela) of Franklin, Ga., Chris Buchanan of Franklin, Ga. and Lane Buchanan of Newell; and a special daughter-in-law, Rhonda Buchanan; three brothers, Durward Bass, Norman Bass and Mark Bass; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chuck Sheppard, Rex Buchanan, Corey Buchanan, Eric Sheppard, Derrick Meadows and Nathan Meadows. A Heard County native, Mrs. Drake was born September 9, 1941, the daughter of James B. and Evelyn Sheets Bass. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and was a retired Registered Nurse at West Georgia Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George Drake.
