Funeral services for Billy Eugene Traylor, age 73, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Dr. Harris Hand and Rev. Josh Hickman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Mr. Traylor passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Tanner Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Faye Traylor of Roanoke; three daughters, Tammy Weaver of Birmingham, Pam Johnson (husband, Greg) of Wedowee, and Tricia McDaniel (husband, Robert) of White Plains; one son, Patrick Traylor (wife, Krista) of Heflin; two stepchildren, Monica Lane of LaGrange, GA, and Scottie Brown of Plano, TX; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one brother, Sam Traylor of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rance Kirby, David Cofield, Robert Eason, Alan Williamson, Allen Sikes, Thomas Traylor, Scotty Brown, and Wallace Murphree. Honorary pallbearers will be the Red Elephant Tailgating Group. A Wedowee native, Mr. Traylor was born on June 19, 1943, the son of Herbert and Gladys Simpson Traylor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wedowee, was a United States Navy veteran, and worked as an inspector for the USDA. Mr. Traylor was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Eason Traylor; and one sister, Betty Traylor Williamson.
