Funeral services for Arthur B. Woodgett, 69, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Friendship Baptist Church with Otis Wilson officiating. Mr. Woodgett will lie in state at the church for two hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Arthur was born in Malone, Alabama, on November 11, 1947, to the parentage of the late John R. and Cynthia Woodgett. He was affectionately called “Red” by most of his friends and family. Art was baptized and knew God. He would often ask his sister Rosie to pray for him along his journey of life. Art graduated from Motech Automotive Educational Center, MI and from Belsaw Institute receiving certification in Service Engineering and Repair. He also was a certified Locksmith. Art had a love for driving big rig trucks. He drove for Ford Motor Company until his health forced him into retirement. Among the things that Art loved, he had a special canine friend, “Sam” that preceded him in death. Art leaves to cherish his memory a very special friend and caretaker, Kathy Pruitt; a daughter, Ashley E. Woodgett; three sisters, Rosie B. O’Neal (Lawrence) of Wedowee, Margaret O’Neal (Demetrius) of Spokane, WA, and Betty Lowe of Wedowee; and one brother, James Woodgett of Detroit, MI. He had three very good friends Tom, Snoop, and Greg, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
