Funeral services for Dee Mae Brown, age 78, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Ms. Brown passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Survivors include: three sons, Tim Brown (wife, Lisa) of Wedowee, Tommy Brown (wife, Becky) of Albany, GA, and Jeff Brown (wife, Diana) of Panama City, FL; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Willie Maude Brown of Wedowee and Flossie Wood of Prattville. Pallbearers will be Matthew Brown, Austin Brown, Jordan Heard, Kendall Pool, Phillip Wood, and John Payne. A Wedowee native, Ms. Brown was born on December 28, 1937, the daughter of Thomas A. and Dussie Jane Pitts Young. She was a member of Cherith Baptist Church and worked as a caregiver. Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, three brothers, and one sister. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at ww5.komen.org.
