Funeral services for Jerry B. Craven, age 67, of Wadley will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Mr. Craven will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday. Mr. Craven passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Gaynan Craven of Wadley; three daughters, Sandy Calhoun (husband, Tony), Shay Craven, and Susie Craven (husband, Matt), all of Wadley; one son, Scott Craven (wife, Tina) of Wadley; eight grandchildren; special niece, Martha Cook of Wedowee; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Randolph County native, Mr. Craven was born on February 23, 1949, the son of Awbrey and Christine Mitchell Craven. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was self-employed in the logging industry. Mr. Craven was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven Craven; and three sisters, Floris Langley, Francis Pate, and Peggy Richardson.
