Funeral services for Lora Abner Childers, age 97, of Wedowee will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 1:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Corky Addison and Rev. Ricky Emery officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1 before services begin.
Mrs. Childers passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at her residence.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jordan McCormick, Larry Bradley, Kyle Akers, Paul Frye, Dan Smith, and Kenny Abner.
A Clay County native, Mrs. Childers was born on January 16, 1920, the daughter of William D. and Ovelia Holloway Abner. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and worked for Blue Mountain Industries. Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard C. Childers; six sisters; and five brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
