Funeral services for Jasper Michael Heard, age 67, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 12:00 PM from Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thomas Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017. Mr. Heard will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Mr. Jasper Heard passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 4:31 PM at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Ida Lee Heard of Wedowee; one daughter, Schaquanda Marie Heard Edwards of Lineville; two sons, Keith Labrawn Heard of Anniston and Christopher Antonio Heard of Wedowee; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Jean Carlisle of Atlanta, GA. A Randolph County native, Mr. Heard was born on January 3, 1950, the son of Clayton Pierce and Nellie Mae Birdsong Heard. He was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church and worked as a concrete finisher for B & K Construction. Mr. Heard was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
