Obituary Funeral services for James Oliver Watts, Sr., age 87, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 3:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel West Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 18 before services begin. Mr. Watts passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Vera Nell Watts of Wedowee; three daughters, Regina Bentley (husband, Blake) of Dadeville, AL, Pam McKee (husband, Jeff) of Daphne, AL, and Tonya Lovvorn (husband, Tracy) of Wedowee; two sons, James Oliver Watts, Jr., (wife, Claire) of Opelika and Jeffery Lee Watts (wife, Phyllis) of LaGrange, GA; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nannie Mae McCain of Gadsden, AL, and Lena Jordan of Thomaston, GA. Pallbearers will be Mr. Watts’ grandsons, Drew, Dustin, Landon, Kyle, Kevin, Timothy, and Brett. A Wedowee native, Mr. Watts was born on October 25, 1929, the son of Henry Lawson and Renda Crockett Watts. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean war and Church of God by faith. Mr. Watts was self-employed as the landlord of a trailer park. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to SIFAT or the Turnaround Christian Center in LaGrange, Georgia.
