Obituary of Symirow Holloway Messer

Funeral services for Symirow Holloway Messer, age 84, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jamie Butts officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

Mrs. Messer passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Traylor’s Retirement Center.

Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Messer (wife, Angela) of Ashland and Terry Messer (wife, Sadie) of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Shannon Patterson (husband, Jonathan) of Dacula, GA, and Kenny Messer (wife, Christie) of Wadley; six great-grandchildren, Caden, Holden, Bradley, Davis, Sturgis, and Savannah; and one sister, Virginia Taylor of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Caden Messer, Bradley Patterson, Donald Davidson, Freddie Payne, Tim Holloway, Thomas Langley, Brad Laney, and Sturgis Messer.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Messer was born on August 30, 1932, the daughter of Vester and Georgia Young Holloway.  She attended Centerpoint School and Randolph County High School, retired from Higgins Slacks Company as a seamstress, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wedowee.  She had a deep love for her family and loved cooking for her family and friends and visiting with her children and grandchildren.  Mrs. Messer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olin Messer; a grandson, Jeremy Messer; two sisters, Lilar Towler and Laverne Davidson; and one brother, Wilford Holloway..
