Obituary of Dorothy Ann Hunt

Funeral services for Dorothy Ann Hunt, age 66, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Kennedy and Rev. J.C. Holloway officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, September 4, 2017.  Mrs. Hunt will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.

Mrs. Hunt passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Wedowee Hospital.

Survivors include: two daughters, Diane Mitchell and Donna Whaley, both of Wedowee; four grandchildren, Edward Whaley, Brittany Whaley, Jack Blankenship, and Jessica Blankenship; one great-grandchild; eight sisters, Linda Bolt of Wedowee, Sandra Brown of Wedowee, Lottie Key of Roanoke, Wanda Smith of Newell, Debra Little of Roanoke, Cathy Vowell of Wedowee, Shelia Earnest of Woodland, and Janice Sprayberry of Woodland; and two brothers, Randy Vowell and Larry Vowell, both of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Jack Blankenship, Edward Whaley, Anthony Sprayberry, Chase Brown, Tony Brown, Waylon Vowell, Rodney Waters, and Jason Vowell.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Hunt was born on December 23, 1950, the daughter of Lommie and Mattie Will Mapp Vowell.  She was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church and worked at Foster’s Auto in detailing.  Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Hunt; one daughter, Glenda Renae Smith; and one brother, Vernon Vowell.
