Obituary of Jean Tanner

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Tanner, age 84, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 12:00 PM from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Mitchell and Rev. Phillip Waites officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. She will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Mrs. Tanner passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her daughter’s residence in Winter Haven, Florida.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Tim Bozeman Sr. of Winter Haven, Fl., Dale and H. J. Stamey of McDonough, Ga., Pat and Ed Browning of Woodland, Al., a son-in-law, Buddy Richey of Roanoke, Al., one sister, Jackie Guzzone of New Jersey, two brothers, Jimmy (June) Bryan of Canton, Ga., Tommy (Nell) Bryan of Crowley, Texas, 10 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandson’s; Freddie Richey, Timothy Bozeman Jr., Chance Hinton, Jon Bozeman, Kevin Browning and Tyler Harper. 

A Fulton County, Georgia native, Mrs. Tanner was born on April 25, 1933. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had worked in the trucking business and later as a sitter with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Freddie J. Tanner, a daughter, Rita M. Richey, and her mother, Mrs. Margie Nell Brown.
