Graveside services for Obie Andrew Langley, age 90, of Woodland will be held Monday October 5, 2009 at 10:00 AM from Randolph Memory Gardens with Father Steven Cantwell officiating. Mr. Langley passed away Saturday October 3, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Langley is survived by two daughters, Andrea Langley and Laura Langley both of Gainesville, Fl., three sons, Stephen ( Cecilia) Langley of Miami, Fl., Jim ( Nancy) Langley of Johnson City, Tn., and Robert ( Gail) Langley of Auburn, two sisters, Myra Mangum of Florida and Dura Perkins of Tennessee, six grandchildren, Kenneth and Duncan Armstrong, Christian, Peter, Stefanie and River Langley, three great- grandchildren and a devoted caretaker Sarah Lewis. Pallbearers will be family members. Mr. Langley was born August 31, 1919, the son of Lewis L. and Mattie Cosper Langley. He was a Cleburne county native but had lived in Woodland since 1969. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Langley during World War II. He was a 22 year veteran of the New York City Police Department. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth Langley of 65 years, two sisters Ertis Pollard and Flossie Dickerson, and a brother J. L. Langley. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee on Sunday October 4, 2009 from 4 till 6 pm. Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of the arrangements.
