Obituary Notice Funeral services for Mr. W. C. Cofield, age 77, of Woodland, will be held, Friday, October 9, 2009, at 2:00 pm, from the East Napoleon Church of Christ with Bro. Wilbur Bass officiating. Mr. Cofield will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Mr. Cofield died, Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at East Alabama Medical Center. Mr. Cofield is survived by his wife, Lorene Hanner Cofield of Woodland; one daughter, Carolyn (husband Bill) Prince of Oxford; two grandchildren, William Chad (wife Michele) Prince, Bradley Justin (wife Nikole) Prince; four great grandchildren, Mileah, Hannah, Harrison and Hayden; one sister, Ena Herren of Woodland; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Fincher, Charlie Hanner, Kenneth Arrington, Marlon Stewart, James Stewart, Barry Messer, Donald Thompson and Lee Messer. Mr. Cofield was born, December 4, 1931, son of James Monroe and Eddie Coralee Miles Cofield. He was a member of the East Napoleon Church of Christ and worked in maintenance for Amoco Fabrics and Fibers. Mr. Cofield was a minister for the Church of Christ for 35 years, a ham radio operator for 33 years, his call sign was WD4KTB. He enjoyed singing and music, wood crafting, gardening, fishing and was an exceptional bass singer. He was famous for giving out candy, especially to children. Mr. Cofield was preceded in death by his parents: two brothers, Albert and Amos Cofield; one sister, Idell Tatum; long time fishing buddy, Lloyd Stewart.
