I was so honored to have taught this uniquely gifted young man, who brought enthusiasm and joy to every single day. No matter what I’d planned for our day, he was all-in and ready to have fun. I so remember the day I pulled a big prank on my class and how Sutton reacted. I’d told them all week I was bringing them the most delicious fudgy brownies on Friday. I really played up those homemade treats, but on Friday I walked by each desk while their eyes were tightly closed and put a brown E that I ‘d cut from construction paper on each desk. When they were prompted to open their eyes it was Sutton who said, “Yep, that’s a brown E.” While his other classmates were moaning and complaining. After I’d presented them with the real brownies, he whispered to me.” I knew you wouldn’t disappoint me.” How I adored him! I pray he is eating those fudge brownies with loved ones in Heaven. Heaven now is sweeter and brighter with him there.
