Obituary of James Hoyt Yates Jr.

Funeral services for James Hoyt Yates, Jr., age 89, of Wedowee, will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Emery officiating. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday.

Mr. Yates passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation.

Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Lambert (husband, Tommy) of Mobile, AL; one son, Ronnie Yates (wife, Judy) of Wedowee; four grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Catherine May of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Yates, Will Worthy, John Lambert, Jim Lambert, Collin Bradley, and Lamar Payne.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Yates was born on February 24, 1929, the son of Hoyt James Yates, Sr. and Jewell Moon. He was a member of First Baptist Church Wedowee and retired from Randolph Farmers Co-Op as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Evelyn Yates.
