Obituary of Felecia Joy Hammond

Funeral services for Felecia Joy Hammond, age 57, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 12:00 noon CST at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Halsey officiating.  Burial will follow at Big Springs Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 10:30 AM CST on Saturday before services begin.

Mrs. Hammond passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.

Survivors include her husband, Barry Kent Hammond of Roanoke; one son, James Malachi Hammond of Roanoke; her mother, Bobbie Nell Wilson; three sisters, Patricia Wilson Gatlin (Steve) of Mobile, Benita Cash (Bruce) of Fruithurst, and Jennifer Hunt of Heflin, AL; one brother, Michael Dale Wilson of Muscadine; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Hammond’s friends and family.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Hammond was born on June 24, 1963, the daughter of Lanford Doail and Bobbie N. Moore Wilson.  She was Baptist by faith and worked as a registered nurse for Wellstar West Georgia Hospital in LaGrange, GA.  Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her father. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations for a scholarship fund be sent to Kent Hammond at 10171 County Rd 87, Roanoke, AL.
