William Clyde Wortham, age 67, of Oxford, Alabama, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston, Alabama.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee from 4:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Wortham of Oxford; one daughter, Irene Varnedore (Lucas) of Anniston; one son, William Anthony Wortham of Oxford; three sisters, Patsy Kitchens of Wedowee, Judy Thompson (Steve) of Decatur, AL, and Stephanie Sheppard (Dell) of Wedowee; three brothers, Phillip Wortham (Cathy) of Wedowee, Kenneth Wortham (Peggy) of Woodland, and Donnie George Wortham of Wedowee; a sister-in-law, Gina Wortham; and several nieces and nephews.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Wortham was born on November 5, 1955, the son of George Lowell and Jessie Nobley Wortham.  He was Baptist by faith and retired from the United States Air Force where he served 20 years.  Mr. Wortham was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Wortham.
