Obituary

Funeral services for Rosa Lee Brown, age 79, of Wedowee, will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Milford McClain officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at her residence.

Survivors include her grandson, Oakley Brown; two granddaughters, Roxanne Brown and Jessica Ashworth; a brother, Donald Vaughn; seven sisters, Elsie Adamson, Ruby Vaughn, Cathy (Roy) Wortham, Sylvia (Ronnie) Creed, Martha (Mark) Newman, Helen Vaughn, and Marie (Gary) Waldrep; a son-in-law, Alton Ashworth; a step-daughter, Monica Brown; a sister-in-law, Angie Vaughn; and a brother-in-law, Mike Rice.

Pallbearers will be Roy Wortham, Mike Rice, Phillip Adamson, Parker Adamson, Oakley Brown, and Alton Ashworth.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Brown was born on February 14, 1945, the daughter of Will David and Sara Marie Whaley Vaughn. She was Christian by faith and had worked as a seamstress at Lamar Manufacturing. Mrs. Brown was a loving sister and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Brown; a sister, Carrie Lee Rice; a brother, Jerry Vaughn; and a step-daughter, Rhonda Ashworth.
