Funeral services for Ellen Bowen, age 70, of Newell will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Roger Cavender officiating.  Burial will follow at the Bowen Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. 

Mrs. Bowen passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, J. T. Bowen of Newell; two sons, Shannon Bowen (Debbie) of Heflin and Wesley Bowen of Newell; six grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Maxwell of Oxford and Frances E. Castillo of Sylacauga; and two brothers, Thomas Campbell of Roanoke and Wayne Campbell of Heflin.

Pallbearers will be Shane Watts, Greg Carr, William Scott, Shane Scott, Joseph Ganato, Mark Bowen, and Steven Bowen.

A Cleburne County native, Mrs. Bowen was born on June 30, 1954, the daughter of Richard and Frances Gill Campbell.  She was a member of Beason Grove Baptist Church and worked as a CNA at the Cleburne County Nursing Home.  Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Janice Carr.
