Funeral services for Marilyn “Maria” Hodges, age 64, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Rocky Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Browning and Bro. Chance Meinzer officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Mrs. Hodges passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Wedowee.

Survivors include her husband, Troy Hodges of Wedowee; two daughters, Carli Hodges of Wedowee and Hannah Shaddix (Jackson) of Ashland; one son, Dalton Hodges of Wedowee; grandchildren, Isabella Shaddix, Lexi Shaddix, Parker Shaddix, and Hudson Shaddix; and one brother, Stanley Sheppard (Ellen) of Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Will Browning, Taylor Browning, Shane Cross, Scott Rollins, Wayne Rollins, and Joey Fields.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Browning, Jim Cross, Rick Martin and Gage Ogilvie. 

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Hodges was born on June 22, 1960, the daughter of Harry and Algalene Browning Sheppard.  She was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years and worked as a dental assistant at Dr. Edwards’ dental office in Wedowee.  Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Emily.
