Funeral services for Michael Wortham, age 52, of Newell will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Jonathan Hannah and Bro. Billy East officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2025. 

Mr. Wortham passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Survivors include: four daughters, Lacey Blankenship and Jessica Leach (Chris), both of Newell, Abbie Williams of Athens, AL, and Ashleigh Saxon of Anniston; two sons, Ethan Jake Wortham of Roanoke and Micah Saxon of Anniston; seven grandchildren; his mother, Wanda Wortham of Newell; and one brother, Scott Wortham of Newell.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Creed, Andrew Hill, Creed Blankenship, Axel Blankenship, Lamar Landreth, and Chris Leach.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Wortham was born on October 10, 1972, the son of Chester and Wanda Creed Wortham.  He was Congregational Methodist by faith and was a heavy equipment operator for Wortham Construction.  Mr. Wortham was preceded in death by his father, Chester.
