Funeral services for James Aron Allen, age 91, of Heflin will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM on Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Phillip Patterson and Bro. David Holcombe officiating.  Burial will follow at Harmony Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Mr. Allen passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at his residence.

Survivors include: one daughter, Phyllis Shafer (Steve) of Heflin; two sons, Stanley E. Allen and John P. Allen, both of Heflin; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maddie Ruth Patterson.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Bassett, Gable Rollins, Jerry McCollough, Cameron Turner, James Wilson, and Clayton Allen.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Shafer and Samuel McCollough.

A Goodwater native, Mr. Allen was born on June 30, 1933, the son of Thomas Parvin and Annie Ruth Hutchinson Allen.  He was Christian by faith and was retired from the textile industry.  Mr. Allen enjoyed gardening, writing songs, and singing.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rebecca Norene Allen; daughter, Teresa Gail Allen; daughter-in-law, Brenda Joyce Hunter Allen; grandson, Steven Alan Shafer; sisters, Nellie Watts, Helen Thompson, Laverne Campbell, and Liz Langley; and brothers, Thomas Parvin Allen, Jr., and George Robinson.
