Obituary of Theodore Roosevelt Hopson, III

Funeral services for Theodore Roosevelt Hopson, III, age 56, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Henry Nelson officiating.  Burial will follow at Stephens Mission Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Mr. Hopson passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include: two daughters, Stephanie Hopson of Carrollton, GA, and Heather Thorpe of Anniston, AL; four sons, Jordan Hopson of Anniston, Rodrick Lane of Wedowee, Nickolas Thorpe of Carrollton, GA, and Demarcus Hopson of Ashland; the mothers of his children, Sheila Smith Hopson, Michelle Hopson, Tara Lane, and Christina Hill; nine grandchildren; and five brothers, John A. Hopson (Saskia), Michael E. Hopson (Andrea), Richard Eric Hopson (Amy), Robert V. Hopson (Sheretta), and Herschel Walker; and Derrick Herring (Cenessa), his honorary brother; and his companion, Grace Bennett.

Pallbearers will be John Hopson, Richard Hopson, Michael Hopson, Robert Hopson, Herschel Walker, Derrick Herring, and Rodrick Lane.

A Chicago, Illinois native, Mr. Hopson was born on August 6, 1968, the son of Theodore Hopson, II, Marilyn Williams Knight and John Williams Knight.  He was a graduate of RCHS, was very artistic and loved drawing, and was known as the Pokemon master.  Mr. Hopson was the family comedian and enjoyed movies and cars.  He was passionate about cooking and everyone loved his BBQ.  Mr. Hopson was preceded in death by his parents.
