Doris absolutely loved & lived for her family. Whether you were family by blood, by marriage, or informally adopted by her, like we were. One of her favorite ways of introducing us to strangers was to say, "This is my daughter Ann, this is my son Danny, & they're married. And this is their son, Lance." Oh, the looks on those faces before she explained we weren't really related, she just claimed us both as hers. My own mother, even referred to Doris as my second mother. She was also the staunchest "cheerleader" for all her grandchildren's sporting events, competitions, etc. And she loved large family gatherings, the bigger the better. Our Dodo was greatly loved & was instrumental in creating so many happy, funny, crazy, & heartfelt memories, over the 46 years we shared. Those wonderful memories will be treasured always.
Missing our Dodo so much, but she'll be forever in our hearts,
Ann, Danny, & Lance

Doris was in my Sunday school class at Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Miss her radiant smile to all of us and her knowledge of scripture. It was indeed a pleasure to have her in our class as she proclaimed her love of us, her family, and her Savior by her words and her actions. What a legacy she left behind for us to follow!

As a child I remember visiting with Mrs. Doris and Mr. Archie and they always treated us as if we were family! Mrs. Doris always had a smile on her face and a caring heart! Sending prayers to the family from the Griffin Family!

Doris and Archie welcomed me, a total stranger from New York State, into their home so I could attend my son’s graduation from Ft. Benning, many years ago. They did not know me but welcomed me as if a family member into their home.
It was a wonderful experience, one that I have never forgotten. True “southern hospitality.” She was so kind, generous and full of life. Rest in peace Doris and fly with the angels!
