Obituary of Beverly Jean Shelnutt

Funeral services for Beverly Jean Shelnutt, age 73, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Wally Williamson and Bro. Jason Messer officiating.  Burial will follow at Bear Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Ms. Shelnutt passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Traylor’s Retirement Center.

Survivors include: one daughter, Christina Williamson (Wally) of Roanoke; two sons, John Shelnutt (Kim) and Wesley Shelnutt, both of Woodland; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Bass of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Newell, Dakota Newell, Thomas Newell, Collin Newell, Trey Ennis, Trent Hester, Hawk Costa, and Samuel Hill.

A Franklin, Georgia native, Ms. Shelnutt was born on August 27, 1951, the daughter of Joe Lee and Jimmy McManus Bass.  She was Methodist by faith and worked for Walmart before retiring.  Ms. Shelnutt was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
