Obituary of Sammy Odell Wreyford

Sammy Odell “Sam” Wreyford, 85, of Standing Rock passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at his home.

He was born on April 23, 1940, in Fordyce, Arkansas to Burlon Odell and Bernice Turner Wreyford. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Elmor Theodore Longmire; son, Michael David Wreyford; granddaughter, Grace Lynn Richards; sisters, Patricia Viles and Martha Mobley; and nephew, Jared Cheek.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Wreyford; one daughter, Sheri Richards (Robert); two sons, Doug Wreyford (Jennifer) and Jeff Wreyford (Lynn); daughter-in-law, Christy Wreyford; grandchildren, Ryan Wreyford, Josh Wreyford, Allison Jones (Stetson), Brooke Strickland, Charlotte Watts (Mason), Eddie Richards, Savannah Richards, Weston Richards, Madison Parks (Drew), Carson Wreyford, Morgan Wreyford, Destiny Griffin, Waylon Griffin, and Wesley Griffin; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Connie Wreyford Cheek; and a stepbrother, Kenny Longmire (Janice).

Sam was a member of East Point #28

8 and Sawyer Lodge #93 Masonic lodges for a total of 58 years.  He was also an entrepreneur of several businesses for most of his life.  Sam loved fishing and the outdoors.  He was loved and will be greatly missed by all of his family.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel.
