Obituary of Mildred Johnson Taylor

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mildred Ann Johnson Taylor, age 88, of Oxford, AL, and formerly of Wedowee, AL.

Mildred was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church located in Newell, AL.  Throughout the years, Mildred happily served the Lord by teaching Sunday School and Bible School.  Her musical gift was shared by singing in the choir and also leading the choir.  Mildred’s talents were obvious with her love of flowers.   She was an avid gardener and had a beautiful yard and garden.  She was a talented seamstress and worked in the field for many years.  Her memory will be treasured by all who loved her.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 71 years, Thomas D. Taylor; children, Steve (Cindy) Taylor, Stanley (Shelia) Taylor, Sherri (Steve) Williamson; brother, Harold (Linda) Johnson; nephews, Harold Johnson, Jr. and Michael Johnson.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cage Williamson (Brooklyn), Seth Williamson, Kaitlyn Williamson, Bryan Taylor, Jason Taylor, Chris Taylor (Anna), Jeff Taylor (Rebecca), Shannon (Marty) Taylor, Jim Gaither (Allison); great-grandchildren, Ashley Taylor, Grace Taylor, Emma Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Kathryn Taylor, Rosie Taylor, Wyatt Taylor, Frankie Taylor, Annabelle Taylor, Chipper (Shelley) Taylor, Brianna (Morgan) Jones, Landon Gaither, Georgia Gaither; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, R. S. and Eunice Reaves Johnson; brother, Ralph S. Johnson, Jr.; and sister, Joyce Johnson.

A special thanks to the staff of Autumn Cove and RMC who lovingly cared for our precious mother.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date.
