Funeral services for Melissa R. Clarke, age 50, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Hannah officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-4:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Ms. Clarke passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Sprouse; two daughters, Emily Matthews (Bailey) of Collinsville, AL, and Melissa Bailey (Jeremy) of Baldwin, GA; a son, Dillon Reese (Annthony Duffey) of LaGrange, GA; four sisters, Audrey Johnson, Jennifer Clarke, Christy Clarke, and Machelle Clarke; a brother, David Clarke; aunts and uncles, Byron Clarke (Judy) and Sue Clarke; nieces and nephews, Abbigail Runfola, Jordyn Heining, Clayton Runfola, and Austin Clarke; all her furbabies and the girls; and was loved by aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Bailey, Bailey Matthews, Clayton Runfola, Annthony Duffey, Morgan Smith, and Thomas Matthews.

A Delta native, Ms. Clarke was born on October 19, 1974, the daughter of Gene and Marlene Spears Clarke.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Reese; a sister, Helen Clarke; and her grandparents.
