Kenneth Weaver Obituary

Kenneth “Ken” Gibson Weaver, 77, of Roanoke, AL, passed away at home on June 7, 2025, after silently battling cancer for several years.

Ken was born on January 25, 1948, to Doris E. (Sessions) and Calvin C. Weaver in Alexander City, AL.  He graduated from Randolph County High School in Wedowee, AL, where he made a memorable mark by carrying a briefcase and claiming an empty room in the library as his “office.”

Ken pursued a pharmacy degree at Auburn University, completing 13 chemistry classes, working full-time, and managing without a car. He earned his degree in August 1971.

On September 6, 1971 (Labor Day), Ken began a one-year internship at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Afterward, he worked as a staff pharmacist for six years and as a medication pharmacy coordinator for four years.

In 1981, Ken left Northside and founded Southeastern Business Products, selling custom business forms to hospitals across the Southeast.  He kept his pharmacy license active in Both Alabama and Georgia for 20 years, before returning to his true calling as a hospital pharmacist at Russell Medical Center, where he was born.  He continued working at several hospitals until his retirement on September 6, 2021 (Labor Day).

In addition to his parents, Ken is predeceased by his brother, Mike Weaver of Montgomery, AL.  He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ann (Forbes) Weaver; daughters, Stephanie (Stevie) King of Athens, GA, Amy Markt of Wedowee, AL, and Allyson Shipps of Auburn, AL; his beloved dog, Roscoe; brother, Randy (Jane) Weaver of Pensacola, FL; sister, Walda (Jim) Vice of Lake Martin, AL; and grandchildren, Blake Ray, Evan Mitchell, and Seaver King.

Ken will be remembered for his great sense of humor, creative one-liners, and the many stories he shared from his life.  War Eagle, fearless and true.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 12 noon at Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church with Pastor Bryan Horne officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM on Friday before services begin.
