Memorial Services for David “Doc” Rodney Jeffries, age 75, of Ashland, AL, will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM CST at Benefield Funeral Chapel in Wedowee, AL with Roger Hammock and Mike Vernere officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00AM CST until service time on August 13, 2025.

Mr.  Jeffries passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his home. 

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Hammock Jeffries; three sons, Shiloh Jeffries of Griffin, GA, Scott Jeffries (Catrina) of Fayetteville, GA and Michael Johnson of Lineville; two daughters, Sharon Rae Husbands (Whit) and Alison Hunkapiller (Meghan Rinks) both of Lineville; five grandchildren, Delilah Jeffries, Caylon and Koby Johnson, and Aceson and Ava Waldrop; a sister, Diane Stratton (Dick) of Locust Grove, GA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Griffin, GA native, Mr. Jeffries, was born on February 12, 1950, to William Albert and Mary Hudgens Jeffries.  He was Christian by faith and a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving three tours in Vietnam.  After being drafted, he immediately reenlisted earning a National Defense Medal of Honor, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, several service bars and badges to include Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm.   He loved his family dearly and enjoyed traveling to his hometown to visit.  He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed reading, fishing and woodworking.   Mr. Jeffries was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Kathy Robinson.
