A celebration of life for Sherre June Waller Sorrell, 78, of Wedowee will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Roanoke, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11 a.m.

Sherre passed away Monday, June 23, at Lineville Health & Rehab.

A native of the Broughton community near Roanoke, Sherre was born Oct. 7, 1946, daughter of Waymon and Mildred Cottle Waller. She was a 1965 graduate of Handley High School and attended Southern Union Junior College and Auburn University. During her school years, Sherre was active in the 4-H Club caring for her sheep. A resident of Lanett for 45 years, she was a gifted watercolor artist who showed her work at art shows and galleries across the South. Sherre also assisted at Cobb Memorial Archives in Valley curating displays. She was a member of Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society and the Valley Arts Council. Sherre and Mike moved to Wedowee in 2013. She had been a resident of Lineville Health & Rehab since 2022. Sherre enjoyed antiques, gardening, sewing, genealogy and spoiling her cats.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Jack Burnside of Wedowee, and granddaughter, Millie Burnside. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mike Sorrell; brother, Cottle Waller; and in-laws, Lewis and Donnie Sorrell.
