Memorial services for Paul David Meddick, age 76, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ricky Daniel officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday before services begin.
Mr. Meddick passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley Jean Meddick of Wedowee; one son, David Meddick (Rose) of Helena, AL; one daughter, Michelle Traylor (Richie) of Delta; six grandchildren, Brad Traylor (Bethany), Isabel O’Gara (Chris), Shelby Traylor, Matt (Felicia) Meddick, Sarah Traylor, and Mia Meddick; seven and-a-half great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Donna Elizabeth Gorell (Dr. Howard) and Debra Sue Lengyal; and step-siblings, Ray Wilson Tallman, Jr. (Mary Ann) and Cheryl Ann Tallman, both of Lakeland, FL.
A Lakeland, Florida native, Mr. Meddick was born on October 3, 1948, the son of Paul Dee Meddick, Jr., and Thelma Singletary Meddick. He retired after 30 years as a District Manager for Publix and moved to Randolph County to become a cattle and poultry farmer in 1997. Mr. Meddick served as a deacon at Antioch Congregational Christian Church from 1997-2003 and was a member of the Mt. Olive Volunteer Fire Department during the same time. He was a member of Lowell Methodist Church, where he and Mrs. Meddick served as pastors from 2011-2023. Mr. Meddick became licensed in real estate in 2008 and worked in that field until he quit working in 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, Ray Wilson Tallman and Russell Howell.
