Nedra welcomed me like one of her own when Frieda and I would drive up in her orange VW for the weekends away from Auburn. I remember laughter and joy and playing our clarinets on a blanket in the sun. Such a lovely lady.

Yesterday day I received some bad news. My friend Mrs. Nedra Kelley passed away this past weekend. Mrs. Kelley sat next to me in dialysis every morning from 5:00 am until 8:30 am. We talked everyday about life, family, how we were put on dialysis, and our love for music. When she found out I was percussionist just like grandson Robbie Clayson who currently teaches at Troy University, you should have seen her eyes light up. She told me about Robert Sr. who was a band director and all his accomplishments and made sure I contacted Robbie. She told me about how much she loved to hear Robbie's marimba solos and percussion ensemble music. I will truly miss my chair partner in crime at dialysis. You will truly be missed.

Mawmaw Nedra was my childhood best friend's grandmother. She adopted me into the family and made sure I always felt loved. I loved spending time at her house surrounded by her kids and grandkids. She was the sweetest, kindest soul and I know she is happily worshipping at the feet of Jesus.

Mawmaw Nedra was my step grandmother, but I never knew any different than her being my grandmother. She and my grandfather were married since 8 months before I was born. I loved her very much! She was very good and dear to me! She always included me as her own grandchild. I always said that I had 3 sets of grandparents my whole life. I visited her every chance I got even after she moved to GA, and made sure that my son got to know her. He got to know her and thought a lot of her within his 3 years. I am very thankful that God blessed me with her as my bonus grandmother.

Nedra was a faithful member of our church. She always went above and beyond anything she participated in. We have greatly missed her since her health began to fail and she went to live with her previous daughter. We know she is at home now. She’s at peace with the lord and all her many friends and family who have gone before her.
