Martha Elizabeth Morris, age 85, of Wedowee, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at her home. She will be buried at Yorkville Baptist Church Memorial Gardens. Benefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughters, Darlene Phillips of Wedowee and Tammie Cobble of Mooresburg, TN; three grandchildren, Heather Nation (Daniel), Jamie Cobble, and Amanda Cobble; three great-grandchildren, Madison Nation, Jacob Nation, and Lakota Cobble.

Mrs. Morris was born on October 8, 1939, the daughter of Elzia Newton Gurley and Viola Standridge Gurley.  She was a member of Hurt Road Baptist Church in Smyrna, GA, and had been employed as a seamstress and salesperson for J.E. Hanger. She loved riding her Scag zero turn mower, crocheting, gardening, and sewing.  Mrs. Morris was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to boss everyone around.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Morris; parents; and five siblings.
