Funeral services for Virginia Giddens Yarbrough, age 76, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Don Ellison and Bro. Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-2:30 PM on Sunday before services begin.

Mrs. Yarbrough passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Lineville Health and Rehab.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jennifer Yates (Kevin) of Wedowee; two grandchildren; Katherine Bradley (Collin) and Khloe Yates; two great-grandchildren, John Caleb Bradley and Ben Bradley; one sister, Margaret Fritsma (George) of Trussville; and one brother, Edward Giddens of Birmingham.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Yates, Collin Bradley, Billy Worthy, and George Fritsma.

An Atlanta native, Mrs. Yarbrough was born on December 13, 1948, the daughter of William and Laura Virginia Jones Giddens.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee and worked as a registered nurse for Wedowee Hospital and Lanier Memorial Hospital.  Mrs. Yarbrough loved flowers and birds, and she loved to read, especially her Bible. She loved the Lord and loved to share the Lord with others and was a big prayer warrior. Mrs. Yarbrough was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lamar Yarbrough; and two brothers, William “Bill” Giddens, Jr., and John Giddens.
