Funeral services for Doris Steed Townley, age 82, of Wedowee, will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church with Bro. Marty Schwartz officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.

Mrs. Townley passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in Auburn, Alabama.

Survivors include her husband, Roland Curtis Townley of Auburn; two daughters, Melinda Taylor (Paul) of Auburn and Melissa Hare (Bennett) of Deatsville, AL; five grandchildren, Hunter Hare, Austin Hare, Max Taylor, Zack Taylor, and Lucy Taylor; five great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Kenneth Steed of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Townley’s grandsons.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Townley was born on January 15, 1943, the daughter of Howard and Eva Waters Steed.  She was a member of Corinth Methodist Church and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Townley was a member of the British Motoring Club of Montgomery.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Crystal Steed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Corinth Cemetery Fund.
