Funeral services for Barbara “Bobbie” Poore Whaley, age 80, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley and Bro. Lon Hurst officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Mrs. Whaley passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.

Survivors include: two daughters, Angie Hill (Wayne) and Vicki Parker (Blair), both of Woodland; four grandchildren, Andrew Hill, Katie Hill, Nathan Parker (Ashley), and Kellum Parker; and two great-grandchildren, Ridge Parker and River Parker.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Hill, Andrew Allums, Nathan Parker, John David Jacobs, Levi Noles, and Darrell McManus.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Whaley was born on June 1, 1945, the daughter of James and Gladys Davidson Poore.  She was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church and worked as a finance officer at the Randolph County Department of Human Resources for 35 years.  Mrs. Whaley also worked as the manager of the Roanoke Academy of Ballet for 22 years.  She enjoyed crafting, sitting on the front porch, and spending time with her grandkids, great-grandkids, and her dachshund, Little Bit.  Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jackie Whaley; and her sister, Linda Hurst.
