Memorial services for Georgia Richards, age 76, Roanoke, will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2:00PM, at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Dempsey officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00PM on Monday before services begin. 

Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Tanner Medical Center East Alabama, in transit to Tanner Primary Care of Wedowee, AL.

She is survived by her children; Robert Richards (Sheri), Kimberly Nimon (Bo), Bryan Richards (Trista), Brandon Richards (Megan), Cecil Richards (Megan) and her grandchildren; Joshua Richards, Allison Jones (Stetson), Brooke Strickland, Cayla Rader (Johnny), Charlotte Watts (Mason), James “Eddie” Richards, Ariel Ingram, Bo Lee Nimon, Lawrence Jackson Skinner III, Savannah Richards, Weston Richards, and many others who called her “Maw Maw” ; great grandchildren; Charles “Charlie”  Strickland III, River Watts, Ridge Jones, Maci Elizabeth Watts (namesake), Hattie Wilkinson,  and Carson Jones. 

A Marietta native, Ms. Richards was born on August 24, 1949, the daughter of Clarence and Juanita Spurlin Chavers.  She was a Christian by faith and a homemaker.  She worked as a substitute teacher, assembler at Plantation Patterns, and a cook at Chulafinee Catfish Camp, manager at JSC amusement and office manager at Fatboy’s Towing.  She enjoyed watching children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow and become all she knew they could be and more.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Donald Edward “Eddie” Richards, George Wayne “GW” Richards, Bradley Richards, Christopher Ricahrds, and a daughter, Anita Skinner (Randy), two sisters; Diane Brock and Patricia Lambert; a brother, Danny Daniel, and grandchildren; Brianna Claire Richards and Grace Lynn Richards; and a great grandchild, infant Watts.
