Funeral services for Martha Rawlins Smith, age 87, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Dr. Keith Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Monday before services begin. 

Mrs. Smith passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.

Survivors include four children, Lynne Barimah, Jean Baldwin (Ben), Andy White (Debbi), and Danny Smith; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Nelson, Steven Wilson, Joshua Pearson, Jeff Brown, and Jordan Robinson.

A longtime Douglas County resident, Mrs. Smith was born on February 21, 1938, the daughter of Henry Loveless and Salley Kelley Rawlins.  She has been a Randolph County resident for the last 23 years.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee, where she served as head of the Hostess Committee and sang in the choir. She was a retired paraprofessional with Douglas County High School. Mrs. Smith also worked at the Randolph County Baptist Association and was a member of the WMU. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles D. Smith, Sr. “Dan.”
