Thomas “Cowboy” Messer, age 70, of Wedowee passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his residence

Private services will be held at a later date.

Survivors include: one daughter, Valerie Melancon (Todd) of Thibodaux, LA; one son, Branden Messer of Ranburne; one grandchild, Reese Melancon; three sisters, Tammie Wood of Roanoke, Katherine Williams of Wedowee, and Linda Butts (Gary) of Springfield, MO; two brothers, Wayne Messer of Roanoke and Tim Messer of Woodland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Messer was born on October 23, 1955, the son of Curtis and Katherine Johnson Messer.  He was a retired machine operator at ANCI.  Mr. Messer loved fishing and was an avid Alabama football fan, Roll Tide! He was preceded in death by his parents.
