Funeral services for Douglas Herbert Haynes, age 82, of Woodland will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Chulafinnee Baptist Church with Rev. James Benefield, Rev. Andrew Nunnelley and Rev. Philip Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.  Mr. Haynes will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday.

Mr. Haynes passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Colley Mitchell Haynes of Woodland; one daughter, Donna Ogle (David) of Alexandria; one son, Daniel Haynes (Meredith) of Heflin; three grandchildren, Madison Henry (Jake), Dawson Haynes, and David Jacob Ogle; and one great-grandchild, Everett Henry.

Pallbearers will be Jake Henry, Dawson Haynes, David Jacob Ogle, Ronnie Payne, Roger Hayes, and Rick Cadle.  Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and men’s Sunday school class of Chulafinnee Baptist Church.

Mr. Haynes was born in Mobile, Alabama, on April 18, 1943, the son of Herbert and Francis Williams Haynes.  He was retired from the US Postal Service and served as a bi-vocational pastor for many years.  Mr. Haynes was a faithful servant of the Lord and a loving husband, father, and granddaddy.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Anthony Haynes; and one sister, Brenda Hudson.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Chulafinnee Baptist Church Fellowship Hall fund.
