Obituary

Funeral services for Josephine “Trudy” Fincher, age 84, of Woodland, will be held on Thursday at  2:00PM, March 12, 2026 at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Daniel, Bro. A.J. Pinkard and Bro. Ed Halsey officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Mrs. Fincher will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00PM on Thursday.

Mrs. Fincher passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 9, 2026, at her residence.

Survivors include: two daughters, Belinda Green and Donna Young, both of Woodland; one son, John Fincher (Shannon) of Woodland; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild: sisters, Rachel Worrell of Lagrange, Ga, and Sharon Yarbrough of Lanett, AL; a host of nieces and nephews: and a very special caregiver who has become a part of our family, Amanda Truitt. 

Pallbearers will be Owen Henderson, Caleb Brown, Chuck Yarbrough, Bradley Gibbs, Ben Castleberry, Cory White, and Gene Ussery.

A Woodland native, Mrs. Fincher was born on January 25, 1942, the daughter of John R. and Etha Dasley Bowen Bailey.  She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.  Mrs. Fincher worked as a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Robert “J.R.” Fincher, and son-in-law, James Green.
