Funeral services for Charlotte Carter Yates, age 90, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Midway Community Church with Bro. Jonathan Hulsey and Bro. Ed Grooms officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.  Mrs. Yates will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday.

Mrs. Yates passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her residence.

Survivors include: three sons, Dan Yates (Celia) of Shelby, Alabama, Allen Yates of Wedowee, and Kenneth Yates (Kim) of Roanoke; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Oswald of Cleveland, GA; and two brothers, Jimmy Carter (Cordell) of Lineville, and Joe M. Carter (Kara) of Orlando, FL.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

A Clay County native, Mrs. Yates was born on September 11, 1935, the daughter of John B. and Edith Bowen Carter. She was a member of Midway Community Church and worked as an office manager for Clay Manufacturing and Robinson Manufacturing.  Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert C. Yates; a grandchild, Clay; four sisters; and two brothers.
