Funeral services for Carl J. Perkins, age 85, of Woodland will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. David Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026.  Mr. Perkins will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday.

Mr. Perkins passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Diana Perkins of Woodland; one daughter, Sharon Houston (Robert) of Bremen, GA; one son, Anthony Perkins (Tracy) of Northport, AL; two grandchildren, Heather Taylor (Josh) and Cody Houston (Samantha); three great-grandchildren, Rory Houston, Jameson Taylor, and Kennedy Houston; and two sisters, Barbara Buchanan of Oxford, AL, and Pauline Spears of Cullman, AL.

Pallbearers will be Robert Houston, Cody Houston, Josh Taylor, Anthony Perkins, Tim Perkins, and Greg Perkins.  Honorary pallbearers will be Zion Baptist Deacons and the Zion Baptist Adult Sunday school class.

A Cleburne County native, Mr. Perkins was born on March 13, 1941, the son of Walter and Irene Loveless Perkins.  He was a member of Zion Baptist Church,

 where he was a deacon and served on several committees, and worked in human resources at Gold Kist Poultry before his retirement.  Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Zion Baptist Church.
